When planning and constructing a wooden beam intermediate floor, special attention must be paid to sound insulation. Disruptive noises can easily be transmitted through the structure. Improvements can be achieved with the STG seal from the Trelleborg product range. It is made from durable, rubberized material - EPDM and effectively reduces impact sound transmission.
Wooden beam ceilings (intermediate floors) with their low mass per unit area can cause unwanted sound transmission from one floor to another. Therefore, it is important to choose appropriate constructions and take suitable measures to improve sound insulation. Trelleborg has developed the STG seal specifically for impact sound insulation in intermediate floor constructions and on wooden floors. Depending on the application, the area seal is made from black EPDM – a durable, non-porous, and high-quality porous rubber. The floor variant uses a porous rubber (STG30), which is adhered above the wooden beams, under which the base layer (black) floor slabs are placed. This reduces footstep noise generation and its transmission to the lower floor. Meanwhile, the STG seal (STG50, STG95), made from solid non-porous rubber, is used in the transition from walls to ceilings. It can be installed in intermediate floors along the entire wall perimeter to prevent sound transmission from the ceiling to the wall.
With two versions of the STG seal, impact sound paths in wooden ceilings can be effectively limited. The seal is continuously developed to optimize sound insulation quality. Installation occurs without screws or nails; if necessary, the sound-reducing EPDM rubber can be adhered.
STG95 can be easily divided into 2 parts, each measuring 47.5mm
